ROUNDUP: Things I'm loving now....

There's no rhyme or reason to this week's blog post. I'm simply featuring things that have struck a chord with me lately.  Some may be "on-trend," and some not... Regardless, I hope you enjoy my roundup!

1. Rose Quartz Inspired Terrazzo by Concrete Collaborative

It's no secret that I am passionate about terrazzo tiles. This rose colored palette is a fresh and feminine take on the material that has made quite a comeback this past year in design trends.

2. Upholsted breakfast nook: @mandymakes (Mandy Johnson)

Sophisticated, sexy, and design forward, Mandy nailed it here. I love the color and of course the texture of this upholstered look. I would feel so fancy if I got to eat here every morning!

3. Rugs used as staircase runners

This is a great way to add color and pattern to a space as well as liven it up. I've seen a bunch of DIY tutorials on creating your own rug runner online. This can be a cost effective way to add personality to your space, depending upon what your rugs cost you!

4. Oak Bench from Counter Space

Let's face it... anything from this LA based furniture store is beyond stunning. I'm drawn to the leather top and refined lines.

5. Black Matte Fixtures

I've always gravitated towards matte versus sheen. I'm really feeling black matte lately, and am currently using it for an upcoming project.

They add another layer of depth and design to a space. Now, off to plan my next trip.

Worried, a pattern like this is too busy? I would suggest using it for a smaller space like a powder room so that the print isn't too overpowering. Image Credit: Domino Magazine

Heres a more muted option. It still has plenty of global influence, but is more subdued than the two examples above it. The subtle colors of the wallpaper allow the wood elements of the room to shine through.Photo Credit: Style Me Pretty

And finally, a little color never hurt nobody. I love the blues in this Eskayel wallpaper. Their line is an absolute favorite of mine. The extra pops of color in this room really work for me too. Image Credit: Pinterest

ROUNDUP: My pottery picks

In my opinion, one can never have enough, planters, pillows, or candles. I'm constantly on the hunt for unique and fresh takes on planters. I'd rather spend my money on planters and ceramics than clothing and shoes. The challenge, however, is that each planter needs a companion... a plant that is... and in that case, I need some serious preservation help! Here are some examples of what I'm loving now!

1. PAWENA STUDIO: Gray Dot Stand/ 2. JANELLE GRAMLING: Marbled Vase/ 3. NORDEN GOODS: White Speckled Planter/ 4. THE POTTED EARTH CO: Unglazed Blush Ceramic Planter/ 5. MOMMA POTS: Shooter Set/ 6. FERM LIVING: Bau Pot in Warm Grey/ 7. POP & SCOTT: Tribal/ 8. CB2: Basket Planter/ 9. URBAN OUTFITTERS: Soren Planter/ 10. ANGUS & CELESTE: Raw Earth Planter in Rock Salt Pink/ 11. ECLECTIC GOODS: Color Block Terracotta Garden Pot + Stand/ 12. LOOM + KILN: Bkb Saucer/Planter 13. URBAN OUTFITTERS: Carina Marbled Wing Vase/ 14. ROUND UP: Wicker and Rattan Pendant Lights

This week's blog post is a round up of my favorite wicker and rattan pendant lights. These have been a hot ticket design item lately, but I do not consider them a trend as I feel they are timeless when added correctly to a design. These pendants create a warm and earthy feel in any room and can add texture and depth to a modern room.  And without further ado, here are my top picks!

1. Petite Lily Interiors "One World Interiors-Rattan Pendant Lamp"- in Natural/ 2. Milly and Eugene "Lace Rattan Pendant"- in Natural/ 3. Anthropologie "Tiered Rattan Pendant"- in White/ 4. Ikea "Sinnerlig"/ 5. ACdO "PET Lamp Chile Chimbarango Triple"/ 6. Pottery Barn Kids "Margherita Missoni Black Pendant Basket"/ 7. MODish "Lumina Bamboo Handwoven Pendant Lamps"/ 8. Petite Lily Interiors "HK Living Wicker Pendant Lamp"- Black/ 9. White Moss Decor "Corset Pendant"- Black/ 10. Eclectic Goods "Rattan Boho Pendant"/ 11. CB2 "Nassa Basket Pendant Light"/ 12. Serena and Lily "Hermosa Long Pendant"/

Having trouble envisioning what these look like in a room? Here are a few examples:

ROUNDUP: Online Vintage Rug Sourcing

Lately, I've been having serious rug fever, specifically vintage and various Moroccan rug types. Rugs can be major investments and can often cost an arm and a leg, but in my opinion are well worth the splurge. Rugs can be shuffled around the house from room to room to update a look as well as layered for more of a bohemian effect.  With so many great online sources these days, you could spend hours narrowing down your options. ROUNDUP: My favorite fiber art pieces

In my opinion, fiber art will never go out of style. I don't see it as a trend, as there is so much variety within the bounds of "fiber art." Ranging from mirrors, to macrame, to more sculptural-like elements, these are my top picks for wall hangings.  Fiber art is a great alternative to hanging prints and photographs and can easily add warmth and texture to a space. I love supporting small businesses and find that smaller companies tend to create pieces with more story and personality behind them. And with that, I present to you my favorite fiber art finds!

1. Dharma Door-Jute Macrame Wall Hanging/ 2. Salty Knots- Macrame Wall Hanging/ 3. Megan Shimek- Escalando En Todo/ 4. Radical Souls Collective- Layered Black Tassel and Driftwood/ 5. Ashton Zager- Small But Deeply/ 6. Woven by Ro- Macrame Wall Hranging/ 7. The Dancing Tapestry- Large Bohemian Tapestry/ 8. Janelle Gramling- "Symbiotic Wall Sculpture"/ 9. Fibers and Fringe- Macrame Wall Hanging/ 10. Sunwoven Studio- Mini Asymmetrical Weavings/ 11. Casulo- Giant Yoko/ 12. Ben & Aja Blanc- Apollo Mirror/ 13. Tammy Kanat "Sun rays"/ 14. Attalie Dexter "Totem Wall Hanging"/

ROUNDUP: Wallpaper Wednesday

"...it was all a dream"...

Ethereal, airy, caught in a dream. This "Wallpaper Wednesday" focuses on dream-like wallpapering that transforms your space with the use of marbling, watercolor, ink blot, and other techniques. Each wallpaper is a true work of art. Whether you're using a small or large amount of these showstoppers, the art is in the wall itself.

TRENDING: Let's Talk Terrazzo

TERRAZZO is flooring material consisting of chips of marble or granite set in concrete and then polished. Terrazzo can actually be traced back to the ancient mosaics of Egypt. Italy then followed suit  after the Egyptian's creation. Seminato, which is when workers toss larger chips into cement, is closely related to the Venetian method of creating terrazzo, and together both these methods created the generic form of terrazzo that is popular today.. The Art Deco and Moderne style periods spanning from the 1920's to 1940's favored terrazzo greatly. Today, terrazzo is a hot trend for 2018, and it's uses are so versatile. Below are some examples of terrazzo inspiration ranging from flooring, to backsplash, to furniture design. I think it's a feast for the eyes and a happy confetti-like design choice!
